How can we make it happen?

Collaboration defying long distance and different timezones

OUR 5-PHASE RESEARCH PROCESS

Driven by passion for orthopedics, our commitment to research transcends borders, where Filipino skill and global science merge to bring national pride to the forefront of innovation.

Phase 1: Collaborative Brainstorming

Filipino orthopedic researchers are invited to propose clinically relevant research questions or ideas rooted in their local practice. Through a series of virtual brainstorming sessions, the UIC team works closely with collaborators to refine the study design, align it with biomechanical methodologies, and ensure it is feasible for execution. This co-creative process ensures both clinical relevance and scientific rigor.

Phase 2: Study Execution by Team in Chicago

Once the research plan is finalized, the study is implemented by a multidisciplinary team at the University of Illinois Chicago. This includes orthopedic surgeons, biomedical engineers, PhD researchers, and data analysts. Our team handles IRB approvals, experimental protocols, and performs biomechanical testing using advanced technologies such as motion tracking, loading simulation, and pressure mapping—all within UIC’s Biomechanics Laboratory.

Phase 3: Manuscript Preparation

Following data collection and analysis, writing responsibilities are shared between the U.S. and Philippine teams. Collaborative manuscript development includes structured interpretation of findings, co-writing, and editing. All meaningful contributors receive appropriate authorship credit, with mentorship provided throughout the academic writing process.

Phase 4: Abstract Submission & Conference Presentation

Research findings are prepared for submission to top-tier orthopedic journals and conferences gaining valuable exposure to global audiences and building international academic networks.

Phase 5: Journal Publication & Dissemination

The final manuscript is submitted to peer-reviewed journals. Once accepted, results are disseminated across both U.S. and Philippine academic communities through digital platforms, poster presentations, and institutional partnerships—ensuring that the research has both global reach and local impact.

When you collaborate with us, you gain the privilege and benefits of a mission designed to elevate promising Filipino orthopedic surgeons—like you—as globally recognized innovators and leaders in your field.

This is more than research; it’s a launchpad for your international recognition, advanced training, and professional growth. Together, we create the kind of opportunity that elevates careers—just like it has for our past collaborators.
